Born in New Home, Oklahoma, he was the son of Samuel E. & Effie Fields. He married Ozelia Ritter on Jan. 30, 1946 in Mena, Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jody Fields, Sam Fields, J.D. Fields, Lloyd Fields, Atha Fields and Carl Fields and two sisters, Leona Moore and Pearlie Fields.
