Stanley L. Helwig, age 90, went home to the Lord Sunday, December 9, 2018. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Stanley was born May 16, 1928 in Ontario, Canada to Lydia and Wilfred Helwig. He lived the majority of his life in Dallas, TX with extended stays in Durango, Colorado and Clarksville, Texas. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He proudly served his country as a Sergent in the Air Force. He was married to the love and light of his life, Evelyn, for 52 years before her passing in 2000. They had three sons they cherished. He worked for the Dallas Independent School District for several years. The majority of his employment was with the Postal System. He took great pride in being a postal employee. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Champe. Stanley is survived by a brother, Elton and three sons: James and his wife, Corleen; Bobby and his wife, Patty and David. He has three grandsons: Matthew, Jamie, and Andrew. He was anchored in faith growing up as a Baptist pastor’s son. His service and loyalty to God was obvious to those who knew his kind spirit. Special thanks to his niece, Ruth Brown and Bildra (Peaches) McCarty for their special love and care.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at Restland Cemetery.
