from his mothers obituary: At the age of 18, Caroline married George Arthur Mallan, and raised 13 children to adulthood. They farmed near Belvidere, MN and moved into Red Wing in 1923 where George worked at Red Wing Pottery and at a coal company. After his death, Caroline remarried Elmer Richards, and had two sons, Clarence and Elmer. After their divorce, the boys took the name Mallan.

No services will be held for Clarence "Andy" Mallon, 88, of Coos Bay. Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Chapel, 685 Anderson Ave. Cremation will follow at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory in Coos Bay.

Andy was born July 25, 1917, in Red Wing, Minn. He died the last of 17 children on Jan. 8, 2006, in Coos Bay.

He had lived in Coos Bay for 20 years, previously living in Springfield. Andy retired from Weyerhaeuser, and he belonged to the Eagles Lodge. He was a avid golfer and bowler. He also was a sportsman and lived hunting, fishing and traveling in his motor home.

Andy is survived by his companion, Viola Young of Coos Bay; and extended family, Marilyn Pothier of Coos Bay, Evelyn Christian of Prineville, John Young of North Bend and Bill and Shirley Mitts of Coos Bay.

The family suggests memorial contributions to South Coast Hospice, 1620 Thompson Road, Coos Bay, OR 97420.

Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
