Funeral services for April Faith Mayfield, 53, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at twelve o’clock, Monday, December 17, 2018 at Carter Funeral Home, West Plains, with Pastor Jerry Heath officiating.

She was born the daughter of the late Sherman Carroll and Vanetta Newsom Carroll on April 1, 1965 in West Plains, Missouri, and died December 13, 2018 at her home in West Plains, Missouri.

She was united in marriage January 2, 2005 in West Plains, Missouri
to Marty Mayfield.

She is survived by her husband, Marty Mayfield, West Plains, Missouri; two children, Corey Mayfield and wife Lacy, Rogerville, Missouri and Troy Mayfield and wife Sarah, Battlefield, Missouri; two brothers,Doug Carroll, Theodosia, Missouri and his son Blake Carroll and Kirk Carroll and his son Dillon Carroll, state of Colorado; six grandchildren, Myah Mayfield, Madi Mayfield, Olivia Mayfield, Marlie Sue Mayfield, and Trevor and Hayden Huxley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sherman Carroll.

April worked for the State of Missouri for over twenty-five years. The last sixteen years she was a legal secretary for the presiding judge. She retired at the first of the year, 2018. She was very good and very professional in her field.

Before she retired she took several college courses to become a nurse after retirement. She aced all her classes including the Caplin test. She was accepted into the last class to become a nurse but due to her health she wasn’t able to start. She hated that because she always finished what she started.

She was also secretary of the Ladies Republican Party, which her mother, Vanetta Carroll, started several years ago. She was a very smart and intelligent woman. When she wasn’t busy taking care of everybody else, she enjoyed cross-stitching, reading, playing the guitar and piano. She loved music. Throughout the years she collected many close and loving relationships, including her church family.

She was a loving friend, amazing wife, and a wonderful daughter and sister. She attended the Endurance Church in West Plains.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Burial will be in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Douglas County, Missouri,

under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses and can be left at Carter Funeral Home.
