Frances R. Barnes of Battle Creek, age 72, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at her home. She was born January 31, 1938 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Dr. Carl G. and Margaret E. (Grogan) Fahndrich. Frances was a 1956 graduate of St. Philip High School, attended Western Michigan University and Michigan State University. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, lifetime member of the altar guild, received the Bishop's Service Cross, has been the church Secretary since 1976 and was the bookkeeper for the Twice as Nice Shop. On January 30, 1971 Frances was married to David H. Barnes, who survives. Also surviving are three sons: of Whitmore Lake, of Clinton Township and of Fenton, MI; one daughter: of Dowling; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister: of Battle Creek. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Church of the Resurrection with The Reverend Paul Brisbane officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to The Church of the Resurrection, the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. The family would like to thank Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, Dr. Keith Bailey and Dr. Stephen Peck and the staff at Randy Gorham State Farm. Arrangements by the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.
