Harlan S. Iverson, 86, of Belview, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Belview. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 6:30 PM and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Rock Dell Lutheran Cemetery, rural Belview. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family.

Harlan Stanley Iverson was born on May 23, 1932 to Oliver and Tilda (Gullickson) Iverson in Belview, Minnesota, Redwood County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Rock Dell Lutheran Church. At the age of 18, Harlan enlisted into the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.

On December 4, 1954, Harlan was united in marriage to Ruby Thorson at the Our Savior’s Lutheran Parsonage. They made their home in the Belview area. Harlan was a carpenter and owned the Berg & Iverson Construction Company in Belview. He was a member of the Belview American Legion and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He loved camping, dancing, singing, visiting with friends, woodworking, gardening flowers and vegetables, making soup and klub and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, Harlan passed away surrounded by his family at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls at the age of 86.

He is survived by his children Rozanne Varpness of Echo, Cheryl Hamre of Hoffman, Cathy McMoran of Yankton, SD, Laurie (Jeff) Johannsen of Belview, Craig (Kayla) Iverson of Eau Claire, WI and Paul (Lori) Iverson of Belview; 16 grandchildren Jeremy (Katie) Varpness, Michelle (Dave) Werner, Nathan Johannsen, JennieLee (special friend Brandon) Johannsen, Jason (Sue) Hamre, Chantelle (Joe) Fuhrman, Jamison Hamre, Tina (Dan) Panitzke, Josh (Jamie) McMoran, Amber McMoran, Kassie (Bob) Taylor, Morgan Iverson, Tanner Iverson, Collin (special friend Kendra Jenniges) Iverson, Andrew Iverson and Katlyn Iverson; numerous great grandchildren; brother Jerry (Kay) Iverson of Spicer; sisters-in-law Beatrice Iverson of Belview and Pat Grannes of Belview; brother-in-law Chet Thorson; special friend Arlyce Averill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Ruby, his parents, brothers Orin and Marvin Iverson, sisters Inez Anderson and Gladys Christensen and sons-in-law Jerome Varpness and Jerry Hamre.
