Neva Roberta (Eubanks) Dlabaj
Born: Tue., Jul. 28, 1925
Died: Wed., Dec. 19, 2018

Our dear Neva Dlabaj has left our world to join her late husband Charlie in Heaven where’s he’s been waiting to take her dancing again. Neva passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. At 93, she had lived a full and adventurous life. She was born July 28, 1925 in Beach Grove, Arkansas. Neva was the eldest of 6 children. She spent her youth playing with her cousins and siblings, visiting with her Grandma and Grandpa Morrow, and learning how to take care of others.
At 18, Neva met and married the love of her life, Charlie. He was a soldier in the U.S. Army Air Corp, and while he was in service, Neva moved to the big city of Chicago to live with Charlie’s Grandma and Grandpa Jarolimek. Here she learned the art of Slavic cooking and how to support her family and country. She also worked at Western Electric testing parts for the War Department’s communications.
In 1945, Neva welcomed Charlie back from the service, and they started a family. She was the beloved mom to Chuck and Sandra. She raised her family on the south side of Chicago in a town called Tinley Park. Neva loved to keep herself busy, whether it be crocheting, gardening, sewing or cooking. Neva enjoyed working out of the house as well, from working at the VFW in Blue Island to being a Nanny to overwhelmed moms.
As her children grew and married, Neva came to enjoy her favorite role as Grandma. Patting bottoms, making snacks, rocking little ones in her chair, and telling stories were how she filled her days. Getting great grandkids made life even better for Neva was now “Beebo” and was revered by all the little kiddos. Being surrounded by her family, holding the smallest in her lap, and remembering days gone by always made her feel safe and at home.
That’s what made her lapse into Dementia even harder
Neva is preceded in death by her husband Charles Dlabaj; son Chuck Dalby; parents Pearl and Frank Eubanks; and siblings Leon Eubanks and Vera Driver. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Ehrig; grandchildren Ray Ehrig, Carrie Rakestraw, Cristi Zayas and Ethan Meisel; great grandchildren Mark Ehrig, Jack Ehrig, Sam Ehrig, PJ Ehrig, Taylor Rakestraw, Anna Rakestraw, Lily Zayas, Ella Meisel, and Amelia Meisel; and siblings Louise Driver, Elizabeth Dennis, and Kenneth Eubanks. In addition, she is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, and caregivers.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 22 at 3:00 P.M. at the Honey Creek Woodlands located at 2625 Highway 212 SW, Conyers, GA 30094.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at http://www.alz.org.
