Loren was drafted into the Army in October 1943 and fought in WWII in the 28th Division 109th Field Artillery. After the war he worked at various construction companies and came to own Ace Construction. He also farmed his family homestead land in Drake.
In 1952, Loren wed Joan Toy in Drake. From this union, they had children Linda and Loren. They later divorced.
On June 12th, 1964 Loren married Elvera Knuth at Christ Lutheran Church in Minot, where they raised their daughter Lisa. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1989 with a dance with their friends and family at the Moose Lodge. Loren and Elvera were married until she passed away on May 25th, 1993.
Loren enjoyed playing card games and marbles while listening to Polka music. He spent many days hunting and fishing with friends and family. He also spent many days at the farm and continued to drive down as often as he could. He loved visiting with his family, and anyone who was willing to listen as he always had a lesson to teach. He especially treasured moments spent with his grandchildren. Loren was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Minot.
He is survived by his children, Lisa (Mike) Fenner-Zaste of Minot, Linda (Gus) Gladding of Goodyear, AZ and Loren (Shelley) Pryor of Cedar Hill, TX; Grandchildren, KayLee (Sutton) Bourquin, Robert, Justice, and Tiffany Allen, Samuel, Jade, and LJ Fenner-Zaste, Carrie (Paul) Gladding-Olson and Megan (Craig) Misrach, Amanda (Roxanne) Jones and Michael Pryor; Great Grandchildren, Avery Bourquin, Marigold Gladding-Olson, Poppy Misrach, and Tao Jones; Sister-in-Law Videll Kubler, Brother-in-Law Dalip Gupta; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elvera; sisters Martha Hoffer, Ella Frey, Esther Hoffer, Hilda Heidt, Rose Rud, Freida Pepple, and Bertha Degenstien; brothers Herman, Arthur, Walter, and John Fenner; and several Sister and Brother–in–Laws.
Funeral Service: Thursday, December 27th, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Minot. At Loren’s request please feel free to dress as he would have, blue jeans and a plaid shirt.
Visitation: Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 3 PM to 6 PM at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
