Howard was born to Almond C and Nellie (Shoots) Welch, his father died when he was about 3 years old, he was raised by a wonderful step-father Willard Fullerton.

Grandpa and George Pelch worked together on the Railroad, he promised his friend George Pelch that after his death (crushed between 2 trains)he would look after his young family, he married Rosa M (Sheldon) in 1922, so he could help her raise her children, together they had 7 children of their own.

He was so patient with thier son that was born with scarlet fever, Uncle Clarence was never treated any different even though as an adult he had the mental capacity of about a 7-9 year old,

Grandpa served in the US Army during WWI (He has a granite military next to his family marker).

After retiring from the Railroad he kept busy doing woodworking (I loved my little girl kitchen set including a table 4 chairs, stove, sink, refridgerator, doll high chair and a china cabinet) also he took care of the farm in Brown City. I hated it when they moved upnorth to Hersey...it seemed so far away. But I have wonderful memories there to.

My grandpa was the kind of grandpa that any little girl would dream of, he had many grandchildren... but he made you feel as if you were the only one,
They never had monetary things to give us, but we were some of the richest children I have ever seen.
He would take me to the Doherty for lunch and order me their special coffee (80% cream), there are too many memories to write.

I believe that the person I am today is a direct result of GODLY grandparents.

~*~Howard is the one in back, his half brothers Vernie, Harry and Leamon Fullerton.
~*~*~The other picture was sent to me by Gr. Uncle Vernie, it is my grandpa shortly after his father died.

I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU GRANDPA.
