Funeral services for Oliver Beard. 78, a resident of Roscoe for the last 30 years, who died at 8 o'clock Tuesday night at St. Anthony hos­pital where he had been a patient for two weeks, will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at the Long-Klontz funeral home, 428 Park avenue. The Rev. Walter Graf, pastor of Congregational Community church of Roscoe, will officiate, and burial will be in Willwood Burial park.
A Boone county farmer from 1902 until his retirement, Mr. Beard was born June 27, 1865, at Iron Hill, Quebec, Canada, the son of Azro and Margaret Beard. He was educated in Canada and married Lucy E. Beard Aug. 25, 1884, at Albany, Vt.
Besides his widow he is survived by an adopted daughter, Mrs. Ruth Beard; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ole Oleson, Capron, Mrs. Effie Crawford, Rockford, and Mrs. Cora Shaffer, Poplar Grove, and a brother, Albert, also of Poplar Grove. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
