Information about George Sr. and his family is limited. Sacred Heart Church death records have Georgius Czabla, age 84, died in Flensburg on 19 June 1917, due to heart disease. He was buried in the old cemetery two days later. His wife is listed as Mariae. No gravestone exists for this person.

However, his son George Jr., who died during 1900, is buried in the same cemetery with a gravestone with the name Schaballa. The following was published in the Little Falls Herald of Friday, 22 June 1917:

George Schubrella of Culdrum dropped dead Tuesday evening (19 June 1917) at the Mike Hlad home in Culdrum. Death was due to apoplexy. Coroner Trebby was called to view the body and he gave apoplexy as the cause of death. Mr Schubrella was a town charge and was being kept at the Hlad home. He was 84 years old. The funeral was held at Flensburg yesterday.

The June 1895 census for Culdrum Township has farmer George Schabala age 55, wife Mary age 55 and son George Jr. age 23, all born Austria and residents of MN and the enumeration district for 7 years.

The June 1900 Culdrum census has farmer George Shaballa age 58, crossed out and replaced by 69, born April 1831, which does not match other census. He immigrated from Austria during 1882 and was married for 31 years. However, his wife left him during 1899. Their son George Jr. died during March 1900 so George Sr. was living alone as he was during the April 1910 Culdrum census which lists George Schaballa, age 72, divorced, born in Austria-Bohemia.

His age of 84 at death was used to estimate his year of birth as 1833. However, using available census ages, he may have been born any year between 1831 and 1840. His surname was far off in the parish death records indicating little was known about his individual at his death.
