Cody Michael-Jacob Benton, age 26, of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away tragically on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 as a result of an automobile accident. Cody was born on March 2, 1990 in Lansing, MI the son of Craig and Michelle (McMinn) Benton of Eaton Rapids. He was a 2008 graduate of Eaton Rapids High School and was currently working as an electrical apprentice. Cody had a great love of sports from a young age. He started playing soccer and participating in karate at the age of 5. He then played football and baseball throughout his entire childhood and into his high school career. He enjoyed going up north to his family cottage where he spent time boating, tubing, competitive badminton tournaments and enjoying the outdoors. Cody was also an avid U of M, Detroit Redwings and Tennessee Titans sports fan. Cody Enjoyed spending countless hours playing online Xbox with his brother Connor. He also loved spending time doing just about anything with his girlfriend Christa and playing cards or just hanging out with his best friend and cousin, Nicholas. His unconditional love, devotion and bond for his three younger siblings was and always will be immeasurable.

He is preceded in death by his great grandparents; Mae and Harry McMinn, Marjorie Richardson, Henry and Wilma Poplar and Dan and Aralou Benton. Surviving Cody are his parents, Craig and Michelle Benton; sister, Kaylee Benton; brothers, Connor and Cole Brown Benton; grandparents, Michael and Sally McMinn, Jeanette Benton, Dan and Pat Benton; girlfriend, Christa Scholl; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.
