Hylon Lewis Adams was the son of Napoleon and Marie Adams of Memphis, Tennessee. He transitioned from life into eternity on February 12, 2008. He accepted Christ at an early age. Hylon grew up in Memphis, Tennessee where he received his high school education and Booker T. Washington High School. He then went on to receive a B.S. degree from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. He later received a Master's degree at Tennessee State University where he was the assistant coach under "Big John" Merritt. After leaving Tennessee State University, Hylon coached at Texas Southern University where he received his law degree. He practiced law until his death.

He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

He leaves to cherish his memories: daughters Angela L. Adams of Nashville, Tennessee and Sheila M. Adams of Chicago, Illinois; Merle Miles and stepson Corby Hannah; special friends, Ophelia Munoz, Byron Miller and family; and many friends and associates.
