Mrs. Wanda Lou Adams Boyette of 120 Duffers Walk, Clinton, NC departed her earthly home on November 3, 2016 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Clinton. Officiating will be Rev. T. R. Miller. Burial will follow in Clinton City Cemetery.
Born in Four Oaks, North Carolina, Wanda was the beloved daughter of George Cleo and Eva Mae Everitte Adams. She was the widow of Joseph Thomas (Tom) Boyette. Mrs. Boyette was also preceded in death by sister, Edith Adams Moore; brother-in-law, Sherrill Franklin Phipps, Sr., and nephews, Scott Moore and Dean Johnson.
She was a registered nurse, wife, special aunt, and mentor to many. Her greatest loves were God, her family, the patients she cared for, and her service to others.
Wanda proudly shared her care, concern, and professional services to others her entire life. Her passion and commitment were “caring for and sharing her abilities with all persons she came in contact with.” She was a lifelong student who loved learning and sharing her knowledge. She graduated from Meadow High School in 1960. Her educational activities included a Diploma of Nursing in 1963 from Rex Hospital School of Nursing; a Registered Nurse License in 1963; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with honors, in 1975 from East Carolina School of Nursing; a Certificate in Hospital Administration in 1977 from Duke University; a Master of Science, with honors, in 1979 from East Carolina University; a Property and Casualty Insurance License in 1992 from Fayetteville State University and a CISR; a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration in 1998 from Pfeiffer University.

They included obstetrical staff nurse, medical-surgical staff nurse, head nurse of surgical unit, patient care coordinator, Director of Nursing at Sampson Memorial Hospital, and Chief Operating Officer of Sampson Regional Medical Center for over 30 years. She was an associate faculty member for Duke University School of Nursing.

She served as President, Secretary, and Director of District 14 Nurses Association; Vice President, Secretary, and sat on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Nurses Association; was a delegate to the local, state, and national nurses’ associations; a member of the North Carolina and National League for Nursing; President and Director of the North Carolina Society of Nursing Administrators and American Organization of Nurse Executives; was the Governor’s appointee to the Nurse Scholars Commission for 12 years; was the Governor’s appointee to Home and Family Life Committee; was on the Advisory Committee for Johnston and Sampson Community College; served on the Regional EMS Advisory Council; was the President of the Sampson County Woman’s Club and NC Federation of Woman’s Club; served on the Home Health and Hospice Advisory Board; Chaired the Economic Development Board of Sampson County; Advisor for the Tuscarora Scouts; sat on the Eastpointe Mental Health Board of Directors; was a member of First United Methodist Church and a chairperson for the pastor parish committee; Chairman of the Fayetteville Area Health Educatinon Foundation (FAHEF); President of the Sampson Charter Chapter ABWA and an active member of the American Business Women’s Association and the North Carolina Hospital Association.
