Buhl - Surrounded by family and close friends, Kenneth Doyle Hulse passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 after fighting a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Ken was born on May 29, 1935 in Trenton, Utah at the home of his parents, Kenneth G. and Evelyn Hulse. The family moved to a farm north of Buhl in 1946 where he and his siblings were taught the values of hard work by the example of his parents.

Ken attended Buhl High where he met and later married the former Helen Hunt in June of 1953. To this union was added 5 children, however that marriage ended in divorce in 1965. Ken married his sweetheart, Patricia Schlueter in February of 1972 and that marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City temple. To this marriage was added another daughter.

Throughout his life, Kenneth enjoyed various occupations ranging from electronics, construction, farming and eventually starting Magic Valley Professional Services with his wife Pat in 1988. But by far his favorite “job” was working for his brother Joe on his farm.

Ken had many interests and hobbies including hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping, and traveling with his wife. His whole life included horses in one way or another, including breaking, training and showing them. One of his greatest accomplishments was campaigning his Appaloosa stallion to the Arizona State Champion performance horse. He also enjoyed trail riding and sharing his love of horses with others. Another passion of Ken’s was gardening. He worked tirelessly in his legendary garden, providing food for his family and always sharing his abundance with others.

Ken held various callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, one of which was being a Scoutmaster which led him to develop a love for scouting. Through this calling he touched the lives of many young men, most of whom went on to become Eagle Scouts and more importantly, lifelong friends. Ken had a great love for his family and friends. He often could be found quietly helping those in his family and community. He lived life to the fullest, never complaining, always smiling, and loving all those around him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, teasing, and storytelling. He was a great example of how to endure to the very end.

Ken is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat Hulse, children Carol (Randal) Stoker, Kenneth E. (Ilene) Hulse, Lori (Dennis) Baxter, Craig (Deana) Hulse, Heather (Tom) Skahill, son-in-law Dale Gregersen, 26 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, sisters Darla (Jim) Wilson and Ann (Duane) Strickler, sister-in-law Nell Turner, sister-in-law Marilyn Hulse, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sherry Gregersen, step daughter Stephanie Fremouw, great-granddaughter Kynlee Hulse, brothers Boyd (Alice), Jay (Jean), Florin, Clarence (Hazel), Joe Hulse.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2, at 11:00am at the LDS Church at 1001 Fair Ave in Buhl. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9-10:45am. Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. The family would like to thank Hospice Visions of Twin Falls for their dedicated and compassionate care of Ken during his final few weeks. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Hospice Visions in memory of Ken Hulse at 1770 Parkview Dr., Twin Falls, ID 83301.

Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel of Twin Falls. Messages of condolence maybe left at www.reynoldschapel.com.
