Glenna Rose Beavers, 76, of El Paso, TX, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 in El Paso, TX.

Born January 21, 1938 in Jackson Co., she was the daughter of Arlie S. and Ruth E. (Fish) Beavers. She was a former member of the Bedford Church of God. She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1955. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education in 1962 from Anderson College in Anderson, IN. She received her Master's degree from Ball State in Muncie, IN in 1965.

Her teaching career spanned forty-four years beginning in 1959 and specializing in upper elementary grades, language arts and remedial reading. Glenna was bi-lingual, having studied the Spanish language in Mexico and the Panama Canal Zones. She taught in schools in Indiana, Michigan, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Panama Canal Zones before settling in El Paso, TX for the last twenty-four years of her career. She received the Outstanding Teacher Award for Canal Zone Schools in 1974 and was El Paso Teacher of the Year in 1997.Glenna loved to travel and toured extensively throughout the US, Canada, South and Central America, Europe, Italy, Greece and North Africa.

Survivors include a brother, Maurice Beavers of Hagerstown, IN; a sister, Rita Finney of Greenfield, IN; thirteen nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Beavers and two sisters, Marjorie Julian and Betty Bugh.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 22nd at the Green Hill Cemetery. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alta Vista Elementary School in El Paso, TX.
