He was born to Frank and Stella Mae Page Barnard on October 29, 1933 at Howard County, TX.
At the end of his High School career at Big Spring, H.G. enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He later attended Howard County Jr. College and Wayland Baptist College.
Rev. Barnard married Barbara Lynn Tetford on July 14, 1956. They had two Sons: Ricky Lynn Barnard and Bradley Lawrence Barnard.
Over a period of almost fifty-four years, Rev. H.G. Barnard pastored Southern Baptist churches over Texas, including West Side Baptist Church, Lamesa; Harmony Baptist Church, Eastland; and Bethel Baptist Church, Big Lake.
He, also served at Seventh Street Baptist Church, Ballinger; Elmdale Baptist Church, Abilene; and England Grove Baptist Church, Commerce.
H.G. was still preaching at England Grove as often as he was able. He served God as a minister for nearly fifty-four years.
Rev. Barnard was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Stella Mae Page Barnard, his sister, Lillie Mae Fryar, and a son, Ricky Lynn Barnard.
He is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Barbara; son Bradley; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and two nephews and their families.
