TROY ROOSEVELT BAYLISS was born June 9, 1899 to the Union of Jack Bayliss and Flora (Ballard) Bayliss in the city of Jefferson Texas. He was the youngest in a family of four brothers and two sisters. All of the members of his immediate family preceded his in death with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Murphy Alberta (Bayliss) Goree who presently resides in Texarkana, Texas.
Troy Bayliss completed his elementary and high school education at the central high school in Jefferson, Texas. After graduation he continued his education at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. In 1920, he arrived to make his home in the city of Chicago, Illinois. He met, courted and married Altonette B. Compton. They were wed in June of 1922. To this union was born one lovely daughter, Nedra Beatrice Bayliss.
Continuing his education after his marriage, he completed a course in embalming at the Morham College of Mortuary Science. This he accomplished while working full time. He completed his internship at the Jackson Funeral home.
Mr. Bayliss was an employee of the United States Post Office. After thirty years of service, he went into retirement some years before his death.
