Obituary of Arnold A. Hunt
HUNT Arnold Alfred Hunt, 76, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Pisgah, Alabama, to Rev. Winfred Alfred and Wilhelmina (Mina) Vande Zande Hunt, he lived most of his life in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Sylvania High School, Sylvania, Alabama, and attended Howard College, (now Samford University), in Birmingham, Alabama, before he was drafted into the Army. He was an avid fan of University of Alabama football. Arnold worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for over 30 years. In 1963 he joined the Bureau in Birmingham, Alabama, and retired from the Bureau in Mobile, Alabama, in 1996. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dawes where he sang in the choir and served on the Building and Grounds Committee. Through the years he served as Chairman of the Deacons and on several staff search committees. He was a craftsman who enjoyed carpentry and yard work. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Freeman Hunt; sons, James A., and Robert Brandon (Annie); sisters, Betty Hunt Freeman, Dr. Lillian Hunt Chaney, Donna Hunt Manship (Ray), Carol Hunt Sorrells (Reggie), and Marcia Hunt Skillern; grandchildren, Chloe and Wesley; as well as his many loving nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Hunt. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 1, 2014, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama. A memorial service will be held at noon in the Chapel. The family requests that donations be made in Arnold’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Dawes Food Pantry, 3941 Dawes Road, Mobile, AL 36695, or call (251) 633-7331 for more information.
