Walter J. Cromp 1925 - 2018
SAUQUOIT - Walter J. Cromp, 92, passed away peacefuly on April 8, 2018 at the Cypress House at Sitrin Health Care with his family at his side.
He was born in Manlius, NY, the youngest of eleven children to the late James and Corabelle Bow Cromp.
As a youth, Walter worked on the Bartlett and Chenoweyth Farms and prior to his retirement, was a heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers Local 545.
On June 7, 1952, he was united in marriage with Doris Vaeth in St. Joseph's Church in Utica.
Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Doris; his daughters, Diane Cromp and Joan and Andy Stedman; his sons, Don and Leisa Cromp, Bob and Sandy Cromp and Bill and Jen Cromp; his grandchildren, Kyle, Zach, Ivy, Nakeya, Sonia, John and Jim; his great-grandchildren, Lily and Connor; his sister, Mildred McCombie; the members of the Entwistle family who were like family to him; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 11 from 4-7 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit. Funeral services will follow immediately at 7:00 at the funeral home.

His family would like to thank Dr. Pylman and the nurses and staff at the Cypress Home for the compassionate care he received from them all.
