Shirley “Kay” Robison, age 82 of Elwood, passed away early Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Parkplace Assisted Living in Elwood following a brief illness. She was born January 12, 1936 in Elwood, the daughter of Clarence V. and Lydia E. (Smith) Cox. She attended Frankton schools with the class of 1954. Kay married the love of her life, Charles “Butch” Robison on June 7, 1957, and they shared over 52 years of marriage before his passing on December 7, 2009. Kay was self-employed in her own craft and woodworking business for many years; formerly worked for 10 years at State Plating Company in Elwood in the polishing department; and also took pride in being a devoted homemaker for her family. She was a former member of the Joy Christian Church in Elwood, and especially enjoyed fellowship with her friends all of her life. Kay enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts, and loved animals – especially her own dogs. More than anything, Kay’s family and grandchildren were the most important part of her life, and her family will miss her dearly. Kay’s family would like to thank all of the girls and staff at Parkplace Assisted Living for the wonderful care they provided to Kay in recent months.

Kay’s family legacy includes 4 children, Randy (wife Mary) Robison of Elwood, Marty (wife Sue) Robison of Elwood, Cindy (husband Ron) Ingle of Kokomo, and Lorrie (husband Nick) Beedie of Elwood; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter, and 1 expected in 2019; beloved dogs, “Katie” and the late “Buddy”; close lifelong friend, Myrna LaShure of Elwood; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family members.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles “Butch” Robison; 6 siblings, Lillian Goodman, Jack Cox, Janice Johnson, Clarence Vernon Cox, Jr., Margaret Cox, and Jerry Cox; and formers husbands, John Nichols and Jack LaShure.

A funeral service celebrating Kay’s life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Wally Champion, former pastor at 3rd Street Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery
