Obituary of Robert Abbott
Robert "Bob" Lewis Abbott, 65, of Evington, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Kathy Abbott for 42 years.

Born January 11, 1951 in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late James Robert Abbott and Rose Patricia Eunice Abbott. Bob was a long time local radio personality with the former WLLL and WGOL and was followed by many loyal listeners. He was "Mr. Radio" and was voted number one radio personality in central Virginia. Everyone loved Bob. In total, Bob was in the radio business for thirty-six years. He was an active member , deacon and Sunday School teacher at Hyland Heights Baptist Church. He also served on many committees within the church. Bob loved his vast collection of vinyl records, especially Elvis and "The Beatles". He also loved Jazz music and could identify any song and/or musician when he would hear a song being played. He developed a love for Northern Soul music and "Garage Bands". He loved to share by gifting records to his friends. He was truly a music aficionado! He enjoyed watching sports, especially the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and Va. Tech Hokies. Bob also had a fondness for "Ole fashion Rastlin" in the seventies and eighties.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by one son, Tim Abbott and his wife, Jenn of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Jennifer Abbott of Evington, and Julie Abbott, also of Evington; two sisters, Carol Huffman and her husband, Rick, and Debra Abbott, all of Roanoke; grandson, Abraham Abbott; a brother-in-law, Richard Donahue and his wife, Judy of Hernando, Miss., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bob's life and faith will be held Friday, January 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Hyland Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Weiser officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.
