Annie B. "Roonie" Chaffee (1922 - 2013)

OLEAN – Annie "Roonie" B. (Alley) Chaffee, of 1626 Seneca Ave., passed away Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2013) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born Oct. 19, 1922, in Lancaster, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Annie (McMurry) Alley. She grew up in Chester, S.C., where she met and on Jan. 12, 1946, married Richard L. Chaffee, who survives. They were married for 67 years.
She worked at Weston's Shopper City until her retirement. Annie enjoyed drives in the country, dancing, flower gardening, lunches with the "Westies girls" and dinners with their retirement group.
Surviving, besides her husband, are her children, R. Alan (Cathy) Chaffee of Eldred, Pa., Kathryn (Danny) Greisch of Palm Bay, Fla., Nancy Chaffee Vail of Olean and Martin (Ellen Loveless) Chaffee of Hinsdale; six grandchildren, Bryan Vail, Stephen (Kristin) Greisch, Brendan Greisch, Jill Vail Taylor, Jonathan Chaffee and Amy (Jacob) Chaffee Goode; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Christine Langley and Lucille McWater; two brothers, J.B. and Robert Alley; and two grandsons, Scott and Tod Chaffee.
