Adeline was born to Peter & Leana Johnson (Popp) in Brooklyn, NY. (Birth Certificate #16754). Sadly her mother passed away when she was 1 yr old.

Adeline's 1st husband was Julius Charles Hammer whom Adeline married on December 23rd, 1915 at the Ocean Hill Reformed Church in Brooklyn, NY (Marriage Certificate #14454). Together they had four children (Katherine, Margarita, Harry, Julius).

She reportedly left her home in Brooklyn on May 15th, 1923 according to public records found at the Brooklyn Surrogate Court. Her first four children lived with their great-grandmother at Bristol Street and after she passed away in 1925 the children went to orphanages. Adeline was reportedly last seen by her son Harry in 1930 when she showed up at the front door of his adoptive home (Hubel).

Adeline was married again on December 31st, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY (Marriage Certificate #215). Her maiden name used (or recorded) was "Jackson" for 2nd marriage to Mr. Frank Charles Bednar and had one child (Frank Joseph Bednar) in January 1924 in Brooklyn...they subsequently moved down to Baltimore, MD and had four more children.

She reportedly was 64 yrs old when she passed according to cemetery records. (more like 66 according to birth record in NY as she incorrectly used Sep 16, 1896 as DOB). Not sure why DOB was recorded differently but most likely due to growing up without mother or father. Cause of death was heart disease.

Mystery solved via DNA connections.
