John Beck age 58 of Pleasantville, Ohio passed away on Thursday Morning after an illness of six weeks.

John Beck was born on June 3, 1861 in this county, son of the late Lawrence and Rebecca Beck and was a member of Emmanuel's Church in the Pleasant Township. In 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Layman of which two sons were born James E. and Carl Beck. He devoted his entire life to agricultural pursuits, and proved himself as a good husband and father; an honest, quite and neighborly citizen, adhering to the faith of his youth to the end of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, James and Carl Beck of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Phobe Walt from Des. Plaines, Illinois, Mrs. Bara Britch, Miss Mary Beck both from Lancaster and two brothers, Noah Beck and George B. Beck both from Lancaster.

Services will be held at Zeigler Church, Pleasant Township on Sunday at 11 A.M with Rev. G.W. Mechling officiating. Internment Zeigler Cemetery.
