On January 15, 2019, Jimmy Birch Russell passed away. He was born in Georgetown, Texas on March 23, 1945, to Charles Thomas and Mary Jane Birch Russell. He lived in Georgetown until 2000, when he moved to Weir.

Jimmy served in the Texas National Guard from September 1966 until September 1972. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Specialist 5.

He was employed by the Austin Police Department for twenty five years. As an officer, he worked patrol, motorcycle, and fugitive warrant details. He was promoted to detective where he worked in youth services, missing persons, forgery, and burglary details. While with A.P.D., he received his Master Peace Officer certificate and his Associate Certification in Law Enforcement from Austin Community College. Jimmy retired in October, 1997.

During his retirement, he was affiliated with Boy Scout Troop 155 in Georgetown serving as an adult leader and Quartermaster. Jimmy raised cattle and tended horses on his property in Weir. In 2000, he moved his family to live in Weir where they live now. He joined the Weir Volunteer Fire Department in 2007 and was an active firefighter at the time of his death.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Russell III, and grand-nephew Grayson Russell. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marsha Russell; daughter, Rebecca Russell-Beam (Kyle); son, James Wesley Russell (Lucia); and grandchildren, Ryla Jade Beam, Miller Russell Beam, and Makaela Quinn Russell; brothers, Jack Russell of Davilla, Texas and Mark Russell (Janis) of Georgetown, Texas; sister, Charlsie Moore of Georgetown, Texas; as well as 10 nieces and nephews, 5 great nieces and nephews; and 2 great grand-nieces. Also surviving are two special young friends, Stassney and Christian Davis.

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 18, 2019 and services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Both will be at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home at 2900 Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas. Interment will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
