Lindsay Michelle Van-Zant never did things the easy way. She was not expected to survive a serious child-hood ailment, but she did without a setback. She was never a fan of working for others, so she forged her own path. She was never supposed to find the perfect partner, but then Brandon Poiencot arrived. Lindsay was stubborn, she was picky. Lindsay was generous, she was caring. She was rare. But, oh, was she loved by everyone who knew her. Lindsay Michelle Van-Zant, age 35, passed away in the early hours of January 29, 2018, with her family by her side. The uniqueness that was her life stretched to her death. For more than a year, she bravely fought a rare form of cancer – she was stubborn, remember. Lindsay was born September 12, 1982, in Jacksonville, where she lived her entire life and held true to her Southern roots and charm. She graduated from Fletcher High School and later the University of North Florida. Her career included time at Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens, Hubbard House, and Florida Theatre. She then started her own wedding planning company, a perfect way to showcase her creative side. (Those who knew her saw it all too often through her sarcasm, often at their own expense -- but always done in love.) Her caring heart stretched further than the family and friends lucky enough to know her – the many dogs (Brodie, Dallas, and others) and cats (Max, Dax, and Reggie) who knew her as Mom also lived charmed lives. So were the animals she helped during her years as a veterinarian technician. Lindsay is survived by her devoted husband, Brandon Poiencot, of more than three years; her caring father, Johnny Van-Zant; doting mother, Cindy; loving sisters, Kristen, Harmony, and Taylor; two adorable nephews, Ryatt and Kannon, who she loved as if they were her own children; thoughtful step-mother, Lisa; and an embarrassingly large group of family and friends too large to list. All of us miss and will continue to miss her dearly. A celebration of Lindsay’s life will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, one hour prior to service. Family and friends only, please. In lieu of flowers, Lindsay asked that donations be made to Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Friends of Jacksonville Animals, or simply do something nice for someone today. HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERSIDE MEMORIAL PARK AND FUNERAL HOME, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32205 is serving the family.
