S.L. "Pop" Givens of Maryville, TN, peacefully entered the glory of heaven on January 10, 2019.

Born on June 14, 1918 (age 100), and raised in Uniontown, Alabama, S.L. was a World War II Navy Veteran and a 35 years employee of B.F. Goodrich in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was a master woodcraftsman, reciter of scripture and poetry.

Preceded in death by: Wife of 73 years, Christine Gibson Givens; and Son, Henry.

He is survived by: Sons, Roger (Beth) of Maryville, TN, Carl (Vivan) of Davidson, NC, and Dale (Charlene) of Tuscaloosa, AL; Daughter-in-law, Catherine of Gulf Breeze, FL. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. At S.L's. request, a graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held inside the funeral home.
