ROLLA DAILY NEWS STORY: 6-28-07
The day began as a day of celebration for many families with graduating seniors, but Friday, May 25 quickly turned into a day of mourning for the Underwood family.

The day Nathan Underwood was planning on walking across the stage dressed in his cap and gown to receive his diploma was cut short when he unexpectingly died at the age of 18.

Underwood was feeling ill after coming home from school, and he later stopped breathing. On the way to the hospital, Underwood had complications because of pneumonia and a lack of oxygen to the brain after attempts to resuscitate him, causing his death.

Underwood was planning on going into the Marines, and after his death he was still able to help the lives of others.

Underwood was an organ donor and doctors were able to successfully use five of his organs to help save the lives of people in the St. Louis area.
