Final Summons Comes to Mrs. C. L. Ackerman Saturday Morning While Asleep
-----------
Ackerman--Mrs. Nora E. Ackerman, wife of Dr. C. L. Ackerman, died at the family home in Brownstown Saturday morning, May 8, at 2 'clock of organic heart disease, aged 55 years, 6 months and 12 days.
Mrs. Ackerman had been in failing health for the past fifteen years but was able to be up and about. She was taken worse about three weeks ago and gradually grew weaker until Saturday morning when she suddenly passed away. While her condition had been considered serious, yet it did not seem to be particularly worse and she insisted upon members of the family to retire. Later they awoke to find that her spirit had taken its flight.
Nora E. Hudson was born at Crothersville, Indiana, September 26, 1870, and was the youngest daughter of Clinton and Ellen Hudson, both deceased. She was graduated from the Crothersville high school and for thirteen years was one of Jackson county's most successful school teachers. She was married to Dr. C. L. Ackerman at Crothersville December 25, 1896, and to their union were born one son and two daughters. After their marriage they moved near Houston, where they resided until March 28, 1923, when they moved to Brownstown. Mrs. Ackerman was a woman of many excellent traits of character, a kind neighbor, a sympathizing friend and was devoted to her husband and children, in whom her whole life was centered. She was a member of the Christian church and the Rebekah lodge.
Surviving are the husband and three children, Miss Mildred, who is attending Danville college; Miss Nellie and Neal Ackerman at home; also two sisters, Mrs. Emma Durment, of Brownstown, and Mrs. Carrie Rice of Scottsburg.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. John M. Crosss officiating. Burial in Fairview cemetery.
