Centre Ossipee, New Hampshire:
Wendell Foss, who killed Harvell Wentworth at Brownfield, Maine on January 5, and who is in the Carroll County Jail at Ossipee, is awaiting necessary papers from Governor Currier for his extradition, to-day related the story of his crime.
His wife, he says, left home and went to Wentworth's house. He went to get her and was ordered by Wentworth and his brother
to leave the premises. Foss claims that in self-defense he drew his knife, intending to "prick Wentworth about the legs", and that he did not know the effect of the wound until he was arrested a day or two later.
The knife penetrated the bowels and caused death the following day.
Foss claims that the Wentworth's were the cause of his wife leaving him.
