Daughter of Henry and Anna (Shank) Whitestick
First Husband: Christian Herr (son of David Herr, Jr and Susan Yordy)
Second Husband: Martin Snavely

"Death of a Venerable Woman. On Christmas night the last, of a large family, died at the residence of her son-in-law William Steele, near Quarryville. She was Esther Snavely, aged [illegible,] the widow of Martin Snavely, who died at a very advanced age a few years ago. She was of the Whitestick family, who at one time owned all the land on which the stone quarries at Quarryville and all the adjoining ore banks now are. They lived on the farm now owned by Dr. H. E. Raub. Her father, Henry Whitestick had five children, one boy and four girls; the boy was a weaver and the girls did the farming as well as the hauling. Esther was the teamster, and she could draw the lines on six horses as well as any man in the county.

Her first husband was a Herr, and she had quite a number of children, among them Benj. Herr, of this city. Her second husband was Martin Snavely, with whom she had no children. She leaves considerable of an estate in the hands of a trustee, who was appointed for her a few years ago.

On the farm of Nancy Newswanger, about a mile west of Quarryville, is the old family burying ground of the Whitestick family, one of the oldest in the county, and well worthy a visit by anyone who takes an interest in such things. It is almost fifty years since there was anyone buried in it."
