Catherine or "Kate" as she was known to her family and friends was one of the most kindest, gentlest souls that ever lived. She was always ready to help anyone in need of help including all of God's small animals and was thankful in life for the simplest of God's blessings. There is no doubt in the minds of those of us who knew her that she is a saint in heaven. All who knew her loved her. She was born in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn to Henry and Annie Locke and moved to Canarsie, Brooklyn with her family when she was 3 years old. She married John Davenport in 1939 and moved to Ridgewood, Queens where she lived until 1996 when she moved to her neice Fran's house on Long Island. Aunt Kate loved her family and her church. For many years she sang in the folk mass at St. Brigid's Church with a small group of parishoners. She volunteered every Sunday morning at Wycoff Hospital with pastoral services and when she was in her 80's received an award from the Queens Borough President honoring her volunteer time. She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold who shared God's love with everyone she came in contact with. Sadly, on a warm fall morning she passed away. She is always remembered, deeply morned and greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The world is a much better place because of the love and kindness of our beloved Aunt Kate.
