Daniel L. Dawley Dead.
Daniel L. Dawley, former superintendent of the Wabasha Public Schools died at his home in St. Paul, on Thursday, June 17, aged fifty-seven years.
Mr. Dawley was an old resident of this county, his parents being pioneers of Highland, his father Charles G. Dawley having for many years been postmaster of the Smithfield office.
Graduating from the State Normal School, Winona, 1883 young Mr. Dawley two years later became superintendent of Wabasha Public Schools and held this position for a period of four years. Subsequently he took a law course at the University of Minnesota, after which he practiced his profession at Tacoma, Washington, and at Northfield, Minn.
In 1898 he became one of the legal editors with the West Publishing Company, St. Paul, which position he held at the time of his death. In 1986 he married Miss Emily T. Murdoch of this city. Mrs. Dawley and two children, Charlotte and Murdoch, survive.
The funeral was held from the Dawley home in St. Paul on Saturday of last week. The remains were then brought to this city and interred in Riverview Cemetery.
Mr. Dawley was a man of strong character and exceptional qualities. He had many friends in Wabasha and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was genial disposition, loyal and unselfish in his friendships and true to all that is best and noblest in life.
