rs. Pearlene (Cornwell) Fields, resident of Wynne, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Crespark Nursing Home in Wynne at the age of 92. She was born in Wynne on Friday, January 29, 1926, the daughter of Mr. Robert “Bob” Cornwell and Mrs. Mary Alice (Yates) Cornwell.

Pearlene attended Central School at Hamlin, and on June 3, 1946, she and Mr. Barney Fields were united in marriage, and they shared 61 wonderful years together before Mr. Fields’ passing in 2007. Pearlene was a homemaker and assisted Mr. Fields with work on the farm wherever help was needed. Mrs. Fields attended Tilton Baptist Church for many years, and had attended Union Avenue Baptist Church in Wynne in recent years. Pearlene loved spending time with her children; she liked taking them camping and swimming at White Lake and Greers Ferry Lake, was their 4-H leader at one time, and she never missed any of her children’s basketball games. She enjoyed crafting, reading the newspaper, and watching Dallas every Friday night. Mrs. Fields was utterly devoted to caring for her family.

Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Barney Fields; a brother, John Henry Cornwell; four sisters, Mary Lou Bucy, Dorothy Jones, Nellie Marie Spear, and Thelma Adams; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Lace.

She is survived by a son, Barney “Buddy” Fields and wife, Debra, of Tilton; four daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Wynne; Rosemary Proctor and husband, Billy Joe, of Hickory Ridge; Janet Crossen and husband, Jerry, of Portland, Oregon; and Cathy Sanders and husband, Donnie, of Wynne; a brother, Robert Cornwell of Wynne; a sister, Peggy Taylor of Paris, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in Wynne with Brother Ricky Williams and Mr. Donnie Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Crosslawn Cemetery in Wynne.
