Amalia Raquel Kunze, age 87, of Warsaw, New York passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry, New York.
She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on May 25, 1931. She was a daughter to the late Vincente and Orfelia Bravo de Almendra.
She came to the United States in 1960 and worked in the export department for Fabergé in New York City. It is also in New York City where she met the man of her dreams, Werner Kunze, who had also immigrated to the United States from Germany. They were married on July 2, 1963 and settled near Hackensack, New Jersey. In 2000 they moved to Warsaw, New York to be closer to Werner’s brother’s family.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Ofelia Ynes de Almendra; a brother-in-law, Rudolf Kunze; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Annemarie and Uwe Redeker.
Amalia studied various courses in the medical field and enjoyed reading. She also loved fashion and devoted many hours to designing, sewing and knitting. In more recent years she became interested in beading and crafted some beautiful necklaces, many of which she gifted to friends and relatives.
She was grateful for her friends, neighbors and caregivers. She was especially proud of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She was a very kind and sincere person.
Amalia is survived by her husband, Werner; a brother, Carlos de Almendra of Tijuana, Mexico; a sister-in-law, Adele Kunze, of Wyoming, New York; two nieces, Ursula (Bill) Fuest of Pavilion and Monika (Lou) Ghise of Wyoming, New York; a nephew, Hans (Leslie) Kunze of Wyoming, New York; two nieces in Germany, Inge Redeker and Gisela Muheim; fifteen grand and great-nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend, Pat Bagg, of Warsaw, New York.
Family and friends may join in celebrating Amalia’s life on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at 2:00 PM, at the Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home in Warsaw, New York. She will be laid to rest in the Wyoming Cemetery at a later date.
