A.W. "Bill" Dynes, a longtime Burlington resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 7th, 2019.

Bill was born on April 9th, 1938, in Bellingham, WA, the eldest son of W.R. and Olive (Sigmen) Dynes. He was raised in
Bellingham, where he began his schooling, until the family moved to Mount Vernon so his dad could work on the family farm with his brother George.

In 1946, Bill's parents purchased what became Dynes Farms and the family moved to Pine Street. During his lifetime Bill would end up spending over 50 years on Pine Street, a place he continued to love until his passing.

Bill graduated from Burlington-Edison High School with the Class of 1956. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army and served six months of active duty. He spent 3 months of basic training at Fort Ord in California and the last three months at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. He got home just before Christmas 1956.

On September 5th, 1959, Bill was united in marriage to Patricia Ann (Reinert). They had two children, Michael, in 1961, and Colleen in 1964, and made their first home on the Einer and Ruby Knutzen farm next to Burlington-Edison High School.

Bill married Sharon Ann (Lapham) on January 30th, 1996, at the family home in Burlington, where they shared nearly 23 married years together.

Bill began full time work on the farm after returning from the service. His brothers, Jim and Chuck, eventually joined the family business where they learned a great deal about life on the farm, caring for the birds and producing eggs, even expanding the farm in the 70's to Hamilton and Oak Harbor locations. The boys eventually purchased the farm from their father and continued with the family business until it was sold in 2012, after 66 years in business. There were high and lows in farming, but Bill was a proud man who was happiest on the farm, no matter the day.

Bill was a good friend, enjoying weekday 10am coffee and talk with "the boys". He was known for his work ethic, manicured yard, Chex Mix, and love for tinkering around the farm and shop, always looking to stay busy. He also enjoyed numerous winters spent with Sherry in sunny Palm Springs. Bill was also very proud of his children and step- children and loved his grandchildren, enjoying time spent as a family.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Sherry, his son Mike (Jodi) Dynes and daughter Colleen (Craig) Mullen, and two step-children, Jennifer and Derek Lapham. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Peggy) Dynes, his sister-in-law Elizabeth (Mike) Wilson, his ex-wife, Patti, his mother-in-law Hazel Loreen and two brother-in-laws, Tim and Jerry Loreen. He will be missed by his three grandchildren Matthew (Lisa) Dynes, Molly (fiancé Kyle Larson) Dynes, and Delaney Dynes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Olive, his brother Charles (Chuck) in 2011 and many buddies he dearly missed. He also leaves behind many friends who cared a great deal for him.

The family is very grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. We will miss him every day.

Memorials are suggested to the Tyler Hilinski Foundation, hilinskishope.orgor Charles G Dynes Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Burlington-Edison Alumni Foundation, PO Box 350, Burlington, WA 98233.
