Services were held for Joseph F. Addonizio, 95, of New Rochelle, Westchester County, a longtime lobbyist, who died May 24 in the United Hospital Medical Center, Port Chester, Westchester County. Mr. Addonizio was born in Manhattan, and moved to Mount Vernon, Westchester County, as a teenager. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School and received his bachelor's degree at Cornell University in 1919. Mr. Addonizio lived in the Bronx until moving to New Rochelle 21 years ago. He also maintained a summer home in Brewster, Putnam County, until 18 years ago. He was a member of the Cornell Club and the New York Athletic Club, both in Manhattan. Mr. Addonizio worked 52 years as a professional lobbyist at the state
Legislature in Albany until his retirement in 1986 at the age of 89. He represented the American Institute of Architects, the New York State Dental Society and other professional organizations. He also worked as a consultant for state Sen John Marchi, R-Staten Island. "He was known as the dean of lobbyists, because he was the oldest lobbyist at the Capitol," said his stepdaughter, Kathryn Norton of Albany. "He was also known as the original Good Joe". Mr. Addonizio was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, New
Rochelle. In addition to his stepdaughter, survivors include his wife, Rose Macri Addonizio; a stepson, Fortune Macri of Pelham Manor, Westchester County; two brothers, Anthony Addonizio of Mount Vernon and Fred Addonizio of Florida; two sisters, Clara Bevacqua and Rose Ferrara, both of Mount Vernon; a grandson; eight step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by the Lloyd Maxey Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle.
