Jan. 29, 1901 issue of Illinois State Journal: Athens, Ill., Jan. 28 - Mrs. Cole Brown died at her home, one mile west of Athens, at an early hour this morning, aged 68 years. Her death was caused by la grippe. One week ago today her husband's death occurred. The funeral will be held at the M. E. church at 2 o'clock p.m. tomorrow, Rev. Mr. Hobert officiating. The remains will be interred in the West cemetery.
