Barbara A. Brida (nee Cessna)), 80, of Hopewell Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon January 22, 2019 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.

The wife of Carl F. Brida, she was born in Ebensburg, PA and was the daughter of the late George W. and Helen B. Cessna (nee Good). She was a 1956 graduate of Ebensburg Cambria High School.

She worked for over 15 years at United Jersey Bank in Bridgeton where she was the head teller. Later, she started to work for the Hopewell School District where she held several positions during her ten years of employment. She was an excellent cook and the greatest joy in her life was working with children, especially her grandchildren. She loved her home and was fond of the times it was filled with family.

Barbara was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hopewell Township where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by a son, John V. Brida and his wife Dawn, two grandchildren, Brianna and Zachary Brida, siblings Carol L. Vay and her husband Dale, Ronald J. Cessna, David W. Cessna and Jack E. Cessna and several nieces and nephews.

In additions to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill R. Cessna, sisters, Patty Carnes and Roberta Cessna, sister-in-law Eleanor Cessna and brother-in-law joe Carnes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday morning January 28th at 11 o'clock at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce Street in Bridgeton with Rev. James Peterson of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hopewell Township officiating.


The interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday morning between 10 and 11.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Church of the Nazrene, 350 West Park Drive, Bridgeton, NJ 08302 or to the Grace Episcopal Church Food Pantry, 43 Elizabeth Street, Pemberton, NJ 08068.
