Carol Ann Johnson, 80, of Hermann, MO, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.

Carol was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on April 9, 1938, daughter of the late Martin & Edith (Aring) Lutte.

Carol graduated from West Platte High School, in Weston, Missouri, and then completed a degree at Gard Business University, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She is survived by her husband Bob Johnson. They were united in marriage on January 16, 1960, in Farley, Missouri.

Carol is also survived by their two daughters, Karen Derrick & husband Bret, of Columbia, Missouri; and Nancy Berlener, of Rocky Mount, Missouri; by a sister, Martha Layton & husband Mike, of Weston, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Jordan Derrick & wife Phoebe and Tyler Derrick and Colin, Jacob, and Madison Berlener, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she adored. She is preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son.

Carol was a government employee in the Parole Division of U.S. Disciplinary Barracks, in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. After marrying Bob they moved to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, where Bob finished his military service. They then moved to Hermann in 1962 and in 1963 they opened Loutre Food Market and was in business 39 years before retiring in 2002.

Carol was a member of Hermann United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher when her children were young and she served on several committees. In her free time she enjoyed making afghans, fishing, spending time with family and friends, playing bingo, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and golf, following the stock market and raising miniature donkeys. She loved life and lived over 12 years after being diagnosed with ALS.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m.

Private burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann, Missouri. Memorials may be given to ALS Association or Hermann United Methodist Church. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
