                               Ernest Robert 'Bob' Biggs

     Roanoke, Va. — Ernest Robert “Bob” Biggs, 78, died
Sept. 15, 2007, at his home in Roanoke, Va., surrounded
by his loving family.
     He was born in Pikeville, Ky., on Aug. 27, 1929, and
grew up in Lanark.
     A loving and caring husband, and devoted father and
grandfather, he loved to read, play golf and whittle, but
his happiest moments were spent with his family.
     He was a quiet man with a quick smile who loved
people and was a kind and generous neighbor. He will
be missed.
     He was a member of Windsor Hills United Methodist
Church for more than 40 years. He volunteered at RAM
House and worked with Habitat for Humanity. Bob was
retired from Appalachian Power Company where he
worked for over 44 years.
     He was predeceased by his father and mother, Mason
and Marie Biggs; and a son, Ernest Robert Biggs Jr.
     He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Johnson
Biggs; three children and their spouses, Susan Cicatelli
(Gene), Donna Cravath (Steve), and Philip Biggs (Julie);
seven grandchildren, Dominic and Francesca Cicatelli,
Cristen and Craig Cravath, and Tone, Anna and Eli Biggs;
a sister, June Sandoval; brother-in-law, Charles Johnson
(Mary Ann); and many nephews and nieces.
     Visitation will be at Windsor Hills United Methodist
Church, 3591 Windsor Road, Roanoke, VA 24018, on
Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, from 6 until 9 p.m.
     A celebration of his life will be at Windsor Hills United
Methodist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at
2 p.m.
     In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Good
Samaritan Hospice, 3825-A Electric Road, Roanoke, VA
24018, or Windsor Hills United Methodist Church.
