Obituary Lawrence County Record Nov 9, 1905:
Mt. Vernon- A terrible accident befell Miss Dessie Alexander, age about 6 years yesterday at the Presbyterian Church. She was expecting to take part in the Rally Day exercises.
She lived quite a little distance from the church with her sister, Mrs. Frank Ryker, Anderson Street.
While she sat neat the red hot stove her dress took fire and althouh everything was done to extinguish the flames, she was so serioously burned that she died at #:30 o"clock this morning (Nov 9)
