Daniel S. Dixon (Dan) age 84, of Etowah and previously of Sweetwater, passed away Sunday morning, January 27, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Dan was a U.S. Navy veteran that
served in the Korean War, was Deputy Sheriff with the Monroe County Sheriff Department, Past Post Commander of Sweetwater V.F.W. Gold Star Post 5156, and a member of the AM Vets of Etowah, Tennessee 0100, the American Legion 0106. Preceded in death by parents, James Earl
and Maggie Mae Studdard Dixon; wife, Jessie Fry Dixon; brothers, James, Neal and Don Dixon; sisters, Margaret Wells and Viola Dixon; step brother, Bud Newman; step sister, Tommie Knox. Survived by wife, Barbara Johnson Dixon; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Blake Bondy;
step son, Darrin Johnson; granddaughters and husbands, Gail and Troy Sensibaugh and Tiffany and Dwight Armstrong; half-sister and husband, Wanda and G.A. Patterson; several great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces; special friend, Jo Chastian, friends and neighbor. The body is at Sweetwater Memory Chapel where the family will receive friends Wednesday, January
30, 2019 from 5 - 7 p.m. Funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. in Sweetwater Memory Chapel with Pastor Jon Campbell officiating. Graveside service and Interment 1 p.m., Thursday, in Sweetwater Memorial Parkwith Military honors provided by the Sweetwater Gold Star Post V.F.W 5156. Members of the Monroe County Disabled American Veteran Chapter 93, American Legion 0106, and the AM Vets of Etowah, TN 0100. Sweetwater Memory Chapel in charge of the arragements.
