Former Alaskan Miner to Be Buried On Monday.
DE PERE Stephen Bailey, 64, an Alaskan miner for about 25 years and a resident of De Pere the last eight years, died at o'clock this morning after an illness of six months in the home of a sister, Mrs. Agnes Rummel, 420 S. Superior street.
The funeral of Mr. Bailey will be held Monday morning, and nephew, the Rev. Leo Rummel, O. Praem, Madison, will say the requiem mass at 9 o'clock at St. Francis' church. The pastor, the Rev. G. J. O'Connell, will assist in the service. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Bailey, who was born in the town of Glenmore, went to Alaska when a young man, and for number of years worked for the government at Fairbanks and Dawson City. He was the owner of tracts of land in Alaska, on which it is believed gold may be found.
Surviving Mr. Bailey are three brothers, Thomas, De Pere: Patrick, Menasha; George, Alaska; seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Sloan and Mrs. Agnes Rummel, De Pere; Mrs. Milan Smith, Fond du Lac; Mrs. James Phillips, Ashland; Mrs. James Mills, Missoula, Mont.; Mrs. Robert Egan, Menasha; Mrs. James Jennings, Green Bay. There were three other children in the Bailey family.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Holy Name society. Members of the Altar society of St. Francis' church will meet at the home of Mrs. Rummel at 8 o'clock tomorrow right to recite the rosary for Mr. Bailey.
