Joseph Enoch ("Joe") Baugh was the son of Joseph Stillson Baugh and Josephine ("Josie") Waggoner. His parents had thirteen children, namely: Jacob E.; twins [who did not survive]; Joseph; Callie; Matilda ("Mattie"); Lillie; Zewinn Winter ("Zeke"); twins Minnie and Margaret ("Maggie"); Carrie; Pauline; and Wilbert Baugh.

Joe worked in the coal mines as his father and brothers did and served his country in WWI.

On his World War II Draft Registration, Joe stated that he was born in Walnut Prairie, Illinois [which is located in Clark County].

He married Flora Lorraine Morris on November 7, 1914, in Vigo County, Indiana; the marriage ended ca 1920. The couple had one child together, a daughter, namely:

Genevieve Marie ("Jenny") (Baugh) Mattox [Mrs. Herman Lee Mattox] (1916-2006).

He married Ethel Mary Horrall on May 20, 1920, in Madison County, Indiana; the marriage ended between 1940 and 1944. The couple had six children, namely:

Sylvester Herschel Baugh (1921-1987),
Vivian Lucy (Baugh) Wood [Mrs. William Ousley Wood) (1923-1989),
Wanda Ernestine (Baugh) Benefiel [Mrs. Richard Earl Benefiel] (1927-1976),
Minnie Irene (Baugh) Fletcher [Mrs. Thomas Webster Fletcher] (1929-1959),
Merland Oden Baugh (1931-2003), and
Iona Pearl (Baugh) Ellis [Mrs. James Willard Ellis] (1933-2020).

He married Goldie (Morgan) Blackburn on July 9, 1954, in Clay County, Indiana; they were not married to each other when Joe died. The couple had no children together.

"Joesph [sic-Joseph] E. Baugh
Joseph E. Baugh, 91, 280 Placid Court, died Sunday at St. John's Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in York, [Clark County, Illinois,] he was a coal miner, retiring in 1966. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the VFW in Rosedale. He moved to Anderson from Rosedale 2-1/2 years ago.
He is survived by two sons, Merland O. Baugh, Anderson; Sylvester Baugh, Indianapolis; two daughters, Vivian Wood, Williamsburg, Ohio, and Iona Ellis, Anderson; and two sisters, Margaret Hyland and Carrie Smith, both of Terre Haute.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert D. Loose Funeral Home with the Rev. R. Eugene Sterner officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. A graveside military service will be conducted by the VFW.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home."

When Joe died, his sister, Minnie (Baugh) Livingston, also survived.
