She was a graduate of Auburn’s West High School, and together with her daughter Carol graduated from the Boces Nursing Program. As a LPN she had worked at Taylor Brown Hospital in Waterloo, NY.
A dedicated member of the Cayuga Methodist Church, she was involved with Bible Study for over 50 years. Thea had a love of music, and sang with the Cayuga Chords, and served as the group’s director. She enjoyed camping, gardening, and both cooking and baking.
Thea is survived by her loving husband Donald Tavener, with whom she just celebrated 67 years of marriage on December 27, 2018, she is also survived by her three daughters Carol (Stephen) Colella, of South Carolina, Donna Pollard with Paul Weiler, of Cayuga, and Judy (Steven) Ellis of Seneca Falls, a son Donald (Maureen) Tavener of Auburn, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, a sister Nancy Cummings of Cayuga, a brother Edward (Sandra) Bennett of Auburn.
Mrs. Tavener was predeceased by four brothers, Wells, Max, Miles, and an infant brother James Bennett.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, at 11 am in the Cayuga Methodist Church, Center St., Cayuga.
Friends are invited to call on the family Sunday from 2 pm to 5 pm at The White Chapel Funeral Home 197 South St. Auburn.
