He also served as a Staff Briefer for a 4-Star MEF Commander, focusing on Military and Civilian Safety. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Bill had a deep passion for the Marine Corps and the men and women he served with. Throughout his years in the Military, he took part in many specialty schools and training, he even spent time in the Arctic Circle. Bill took great pride in having two of his children following in his footsteps serving this Great Country. He had the privilege of swearing his Daughter into the Navy (2008). Bill also served on the Lancaster Police Department throughout the 80’s and early 90’s.
For several years until the time of his death, Bill worked for J & J Contractors, Inc., Billerica. Previously, he worked as a Project Manager for GM2 Associates, Woodstock CT. He completed numerous projects working with the Army Corps of Engineers, NAVFAC, and NAVSEA. Early in his construction career, he owned and operated Bartlett Construction, Lancaster, as a side business.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club, and American Legion, Post 96, Lancaster. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Bill was extremely proud of the home he built on Langen Road and could often be found in a lawn chair out front. He was happiest walking through the woods and enjoying any outdoor activity. He will be greatly missed by many; he served as a mentor for many of his children’s friends, leaving them with fond memories, lectures, laughs, and life lessons.
