Mattie Fern Caudill Brown

Mattie Fern Caudill Brown, wife of Alfred Glenn Brown of Whitesburg, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare Center. She was 80 years of age.

She was the daughter of the late R. B. and Alberta Cornett Caudill, born January 4, 1931.

Fern was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and served as a Sunday School teacher for 25 years and a Cub Scout Den Mother for 10 years.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Alfred Glenn Brown; three sons: Richard Glenn (Glenda) Brown of Dry Fork, Wendell Keith Brown of Whitco, and David Allen Brown of Ovenfork; one daughter: Freda Kay Campbell of Dry Fork; four sisters: Inez Newsome of Lexington, Anis (Bob) Ison of Jeremiah, Mary Hall of Chicago, Illinois, and Virginia (Frank) Burke of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren: Christopher, Richie, Michael, Chad, and Janis; six great grandchildren: Anna, Chloe, Myles, Addison, Gavin and Harley; along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Fern was preceded in death by three sisters: Susie May Caudill, Minnie Fay Gilliam (Twin), and Della Collier, and a brother, Robert Caudill.

Funeral services for Mattie Fern Caudll Brown were held Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Kings Chapel Church with Tony Brown and Frank Adams officiating. A concluding service followed in the R. B. Caudill Cemetery at Whitco.

Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg cared for the arrangements.
