The sunset for Doris Lucille Slaton Friday, December 7th, 2018. She was born to the late Eliza Scott Montgomery and the late Clarence Montgomery October 8, 1944, in Westminster South Carolina. Doris was one of ten children and grew up in Lavonia, Georgia. as a child, she was adventurous and often sneaked off to wonder the wood and fish. Fishing became a lifetime love of hers.
Her adventurous spirit led her to move to Atlanta as a teen where she completed her education at George Washington High Night School. Through the years Doris worked various jobs from the Center for Disease Control to Auto Zone where she retired as a parts manager.
Doris married George Lamar Slaton, Sr. who preceded her in death. Their marriage produced two sons, George Jr. (deceased) and Scott. George and Scotts' arrival joined older siblings Clarence and Priscilla.
Left to grieve her passing are her cherished children Clarence Montgomery (Paulette), Priscilla Niccum (Bobby), Scott Slaton, Ph.D. (Cybil), sister Rosie Sliling, grandchildren Exzavious, Pete, Jo Lesa, Asia, Red, George III, and Samantha. Also seven great-grandchildren, sister in laws, Neekel Slaton and Deborah Slaton, brother in laws, Christopher Slaton (Aaliyah) and Fonta' Slaton (Michelle), a multitude of extended family and friends.
